This LPIC path is a multi-level certification program that validates Linux skills, from beginner to advanced enterprise-level expertise.
The following are the prerequisites for each of the LPI certifications:
- LPIC-1: No prerequisites.
- LPIC-2: Requires an active LPIC-1 certification.
- LPIC-3: Requires an active LPIC-2 certification.
LPIC-3 offers specialized certifications in:
- Mixed Environment (Exam 300): Linux and Windows integration
- Security (Exam 303): Hardening, encryption, and access controls
- Virtualization & Containerization (Exam 305): VMs, Docker, Kubernetes
- High Availability & Storage Clusters (Exam 306): RAID, clustering, and failover systems
You need to pass the following sets of exams for each level:
- LPIC-1: Two exams (101, 102)
- LPIC-2: Two exams (201, 202)
- LPIC-3: One exam per specialization
LPIC is vendor-neutral, while RHCE focuses on Red Hat Linux. LPIC is more flexible across different Linux distributions.
